The road to Whittier was closed late Sat. evening to a major rock slide. As a result motorist are unable to enter or leave Whittier until possibly Thur. when they hope to have the road open. I was able to see the slide area, and know exactly where it is as I have always been concerned driving past that section of the road. My othe ...

An absolutely marvelous day in Portage. Who would have thought that the lake would still be open and that there was no wind on the lake.

A beautiful spring day in Alaska necessitated a drive down the Seward Highway. A brief stop in Girdwood and on to Portage. A beautiful day all around us. I drove to Portage and took a cruise on the M/V Ptarmigan on Portage Lake. It was still clogged with ice so we didn't make it to the face of the glacier, but with such pretty weather it didn't bother us.
